The University of Valencia organises the 26th Symposium of the Spanish Society for the History of Psychology (SEHP)

The University of Valencia organises this week the 26th Symposium of the Spanish Society for the History of Psychology (SEHP). Maria Vicenta Mestre, vice-principal for Teaching Staff and full-university professor of Psychology at the University of Valencia, chaired the conference, entitled 'New times, new challenges for the History of Psychology'.

Sessions will reflect on topics such as the history of Spanish psychology, women in the history of psychology, the historical roots of contemporary ideas and issues, Watson and the behaviorist manifesto of 1913, or on aspects of the history of the applied psychology. The conference will present research work and analysis in fields and areas that can provide research, results, and current proposals on the present and future of psychology.

Among the thirty qualified speakers participating are representatives of various national and international universities. A cross-cutting work, whose studies will become the fundamental keys of this conference, the plenary sessions will be developed by Hugo Klappenbach, in charge of the inaugural conference in the auditorium of the University (entitled 'The development of psychology in Argentina around 1950: between philosophical anthropology and psychotechnics'.

This Friday, 10 May, professor Antonio Cano Vindel, will address the historical perspective of applied psychology, with a lecture entitled 'An Historical development of models and techniques of psychological treatment. " Finally, Helio Carpintero will give the closing lecture on Saturday 11 May, with the title 'The influence of Belgian psychology in Spanish psychology.

The Symposium is housed in the historic building of La Nau in the University of Valencia. In addition to the educational value, attendance at the conference includes two free-elective credits for future professionals interested in the field and a certificate of assistance for professionals who request it.
