The University of Valencia ranked among the top 300 institutions worlwide in scientific production

The University of Valencia ranked the place 274 of the International ranking SIR World Report. This work includes the analysis of research centres worldwide between 2006 and 2010 that at least, have published one hundred sicentific documents in 2010 in the database Scopus. The report includes 3,290 institutions from 106 countries, 153 Spanish instituions.

Besides being ranked the top 300 best institions worlwide, the University of Valencia is the first Valencian institution in scientific production and the sixth behind the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Universities of Barcelona (165), the Complutense University of Madrid (214), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (218) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (266); whereas in Europe it is ranked the place 89.

The worlwide classification process is based on seven indicators: most relevant works in every investigation area, number of published documents, institution the author belongs, collaboration with other institutions from other countries, scientific impact, quality of publications and degree of thematic specialisation.

Following this process, in the top positions of the worlwide ranking there are the following institutions and universities: Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (France), Chinese Academy of Sciences (China), Russian Academy of Sciences (Russia), Harvard University (United States), Max Planck Gesellschaft (Germany), University of Tokyo (Japan), National Institutes of Health United States (United States), University of Toronto (Canada) and CSIC.
