Valencian Government’s Choral Group performs in “Serenades in the Cloister”

Valencian Government’s Choral Group will perform on Saturday 5 July, within the cycle “Serenades in the Cloister” in La Nau of the UV. Directed by Francisco Perales and with accompaniment of Francisco Hervás, playing the piano, the choral group will perform several opera and zarzuela pieces. It is free since 10:30 p.m. (with the invitation to be collected just one hour before in the reception of the building until full capacity is reached).

The concert programme will be composed by opera pieces: La Traviata and Luisa Miller, by Verdi, Fidelio by Beethoven, Eugene Oneguin by Tchaikovsky, “Maror”- “Swell” by Manuel Palau Madame Butterfly, by Puccini and Carmen by Bizet. During the second part we will be able to listen to zarzuela pieces : “Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente”, by Chueca, ”El rey que rabió”, by Chapí, “El ultimo romántico” and “La del Soto del Parral”, by Soutullo and Vert, “Luisa Fernanda”, by Moreno Torroba, “Doña Francisquita”, by Amadeo Vives and “La verbena de la Paloma”, by Tomás Bretón.

This concert by Choral Group of Valencian Government closes the presence of Valencian choral music in this year’s Serenades, also attended by the University Chamber Choir and the choral group Little Singers from Valencia.

Valencian Government Choral is one of the best in the country, whose prestige has been achieved during his trajectory since its foundation in 1987, under the name of Valencia Choral, brightly maintained and since 2006 it is the main choir in lyrical seasons of Arts Palace Reina Sofia.

Valencian Government Choir is one of the artistic unities depending on CulturArts, Francisco Perales being its manager, Jordi Benácer, its assistant manager and Francisco Hervás its accompanist pianist.

During its trajectory, it has combined opera and symphonic and choral music within its works , from all times, and has sung among others, under the baton direction of directors such as Claudio Abbado, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Bertrand de Billy, Riccardo Chailly, Franz-Paul Decker, Manuel Galduf, Enrique García Asensio, Luis Antonio García Navarro, Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, Valeri Guérguiev, Leopold Hager, Cristóbal Halffter, Robert King, Sir Neville Marriner, Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Marc Minkowski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Josep Pons, Michel Plasson, Georges Prêtre, Helmuth Rilling, Guennadi Rojdestvenski, Antoni Ros-Marbà, Mstislav Rostropóvitx, Claudio Scimone and Alberto Zedda.

He has regularly sung in the Music Palace of Valencia and has frequently been present in the most important Spanish seasons and festivals (Granada, Santader, Peralada and Grec, between others) he has also performed in Cervantine Festival, in Guanajuato (México), in the UNESCO seat of Paris, in the International Exhibition of Lisboan, in St Patrick’s Cathedral of New York and in the main European festivals.

Since its arrival to Arts Palace, the Choir performed in practically all its productions under the directions of Lorin Maazel, Zubin Metha and Omer Meir Wellber.
