The UV’s Welcome Festival –Festival de Benvinguda– activities continue throughout this week. On Monday at 11:00, the opening of the XV Mostra d’Art Públic/Universitat Pública took place at Tarongers Campus. More theatre, musical, cinema and Valencian pilota activities are going to be carried this week as well. Today, October 25, there is going to be a concert by La Habitación Roja and Polock, and tomorrow, Friday 26, by Bongo Botrako and Aspencat. Each concert cost 5 Euros and all the money collected will be donated to the organization Pobreza Cero. Tickets are available at www.clickentrada.com.
Art Públic/Universitat Pública is a public art exhibition for young artists that can be visited until October 26 on campus. This 15th edition presents the works by the choosen artists and it is conceived as a highly ephemeral exhibition. The theatre festival Mostra de Teatre Universitari started its performances at La Nau with Nit de reis by William Shakespeare. Throughout this week, Amics de l’ànima by Laura de Weck is going to be staged, and Lorca, Calderón y los estudiantes de Babel is scheduled for next week. This last performance is a play by Escena Erasmus.
Cinema activities have also started in Burjassot, Gandia and Ontinyent and are running until October 28. Moreover, several spaces of the academic institution and some places in Valencia city are going to host concerts and exhibitions. Activities are ending on October 31 with the last concert by Mishima and The New Raemon.
Music and art
The bands included in the Festival de Benvinguda this year are La Habitación Roja, Polock, Bongo Botrako, Aspencat, Mishima, and The New Raemon. They are playing on 25, 26 and 31 at Sala Noise in Valencia. Each concert cost 5 Euros and all the money collected will be donated to the organization Pobreza Cero. One of the most important events is the concert aimed at stimulating the Bolsa Pop-Rock of the university, which is scheduled for October 30. The venue this time is going to be Sala El Loco and the bands are Make Some Are Us and Emma Gets Wild, from 22:00 in the evening. Entrance is free.
Toni Albà, in Ontinyent
Ontinyent’s centre is going to be its onw activities as well. Catalan actor Toni Albà will performance next October 25 at 20:00 in Teagro Echegaray. Entrance is free but invitation is requested. On the same daym at 17:00, music and theatre performances are scheduled at Sant Domènech square by Kaoba.

Traditional pilota match: Álvaro and Hèctor vs. Puchol II and Santi
Today, Pelayo court in Valencia is hosting the traditional new academic year welcome match. From 18:30, and after some matches of first level minor categories, Álvaro and Héctor are going to try to beat Puchol II and Santi. This match is one of the best matches we can attend since they are top athletes at this sport and the four are enjoying a great time of shape.
As usual, students at Universitat de València are allowed to watch the match for free although the court’s capacity is limited and they will need to show their university card. Universitat de València has been promoting this Valencian sport for more than a decade. Regarding the escala i corda modality, there is a tournament scheduled in March where the best players will take part.
