The general strike of teaching, called for this Thursday, 25 October, had a wide following in the University of Valencia. Also the two protests called (at noon from the Campus of Blasco Ibáñez, and in the afternoon from the San Agustin Square) met thousands of people.
In schools and places of the University of Valencia the day passed without incident.
Management of the University reported that, with currently available data, 90 % of the classes were suspended. Among the PAS, the support was of 59.64 % and among the IDPs, of 51.8%.
The Council of Government of the University had approved, Wednesday 16 October, a document that called a "dialogue and agreement between the administration and educational institutions, public authorities and society". The University demand "an exercise of responsibility of all agents involved in the educational system" and appeal to the respect "of ideological diversity, the free exchange of ideas necessary for the progress of society, and to the defence of the values of the public education system".
The Council of Government of the University of Valencia was reaffirmed in the rejection of fiscal consolidation policy, such as university governing bodies has expressed repeatedly. According to the text, these policies "mean a risk of exclusion from university students for economic reasons, diminish the workers’ rights; leading the young researchers to a scientific emigration and reduce the research resources in the current socioeconomic context ".
