
The Campus of Ontinyent hosted on Tuesday, the presentation of a new a announcement of this award. The award, worth 5,000 €, pretends to contribute to the progress of knowledge of financial-business reality. The jury will specially value that the candidate projects are applicable in the Valencian business.
XI Edition of the “Juan José Renau Piqueras” Economics Research Awards has an excellence jury. The award-winners with the Economics Jaime I awards are Álvaro Cuervo and Vicente Salas (full university professors in the Complutense and Zaragoza universities) they will take part in the jury, together with the full university professor of Universitat de València Martina Menguzzato (the widow of Juan José Renau); the Director of Caixa Ontinyent, Vicente Penadés; and the dean of the Faculty of Economics, Vicent Soler.
The Vice-Principal of Territorial Projection and Participation of Universitat de València, Jorge Hermosilla, claimed that it is an award “of reference for the university community because of the acquired prestige and the quality of such presented work” and he assured that this year the award is looking to focus more in the Valencian area to consolidate itself as a reference in the matter of this field. The mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, explained that this award is one more sample of Ontinyent university nature, and of the institutional support of the principal of Universitat de València, professor Esteban Morcillo, because of the presence of Universitat in the Vall d'Albaida.
The award, inspired by the Ontinyent Campus University Foundation intends to contribute to the progress of knowledge of the financial-business reality. It was created in memory of the dean Economics Juan José Renau, one of the maximum defenders for the implementation of the University Campus of Ontinyent. According to the bases, the presented work must be unpublished, original and be about aspects directly related to creation, functioning or development of the company and to represent a support to the scientific knowledge of this reality. In the valuation of the jury they will take into account , besides the quality and the scientific rigour of the research, the applicability of the work, as well as its utility to improve the address of companies, very specially of those which make the business network in the Valencian territorial surroundings.
The verdict of the jury will be public during the second fortnight of December of 2015 and the awards will be given at a public event. The award is equipped of 5,000 €, and the awarded work will be able to be published by the University Foundation if appropriate, during the maximum lead time of a year from the delivery date of the award.
Jorge Hermosilla explained: “until now only one of the 10 winning works has been published, the one of the first edition, who Josep Pla Barber did, and which it has focused itself more on our area. We hope these works which will be presented this year also have a component, because we are going to value it and with no doubt that will be key when valuing its subsequent publication”, he explained. These works will have to be delivered before 31st October in the seat the Ontinyent Campus University Foundation.
