Syrian-Palestinian blogger Dima Khatib spoke yesterday, June 4th, about the ‘Arab Spring’ at Universitat de València. The event started at 19:00 at Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació (Salón de Grados, first level). The conference was organized by Amnesty International. Dima Khatib is Chief Corresponden of Al Jazeera in Latin America.
Khatib has been working for Al Jazeera since 1997. She is currently settled in Caracas (Venezuela). She was part of the heads team of the channel in Qatar until 2003, and later she was corresponden in China. She has represented Al Jazeeran in more than 25 countries, interviewing several heads of state (Chávez, Lula, Morales…). Previously, she worked for France Press and Radio Suiza International.
Publications such as Forbes Middle East, Foreign Policy or Al-Monitor consider her as one of the most influential Arab world figures in Twitter because of her cover of Arabe revolutions.
She got a degree at Université de Genève (Switzerland) in 1994, and she speaks eight languages. She co-wrote a book on Arab revolutions with Ignacio Ramonet, Sami Nair, Bernard Cassen, Santiago Alba, and others.
