
The team consists of José Manuel Pavía Miralles (Universitat de València), José Antonio Álvarez Jareño (Universitat de València), Jorge Segura Gisbert (Unión Alcoyana and associate Professor of the Universitat de València) and Patricia García Torres (Unión Alcoyana). They have been awarded the second place in the SCOR Actuarial Award in the Iberian Peninsula for the work “Detection of the flight risk of clients of an insurance company through machine learning algorithms”. This award, which is already in its fourth edition, has been created by the reinsurance company SCOR, in collaboration with the Institutes of Actuaries of Spain and Portugal to promote and boost the research in Actuary Sciences and Risk Management and reward studies that show methodologies or new projects with potential application in risk management.
José Manuel Pavía and José Antonio Álvarez are Professor of the Master’s Degree in Actuarial and Financial Science of the Faculty of Economy of the Universitat de València. On his side, Jorge Segura and Patricia García, graduates of the Faculty of Economy, work as actuaries in Unión Alcoyana.
