A total of 81 PhDs have been awarded in representation of the almost 1.000 doctoral theses read in the academic years 20-21 and 21-22 in a ceremony held at the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, which has been postponed for several academic years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Valencia held the ceremony of the PhDs who read their doctoral theses over the years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. A ceremony that had to be postponed for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but now takes up again. In this way, “the University of Valencia goes back to normal in the series of events for the awarding of new doctors' degrees”, said the Principal.
In this event, a total of 81 PhDs of the almost 1.000 people that read their doctoral theses over these academic years and have achieved the highest academic degree have been awarded.
The ceremony followed the traditional academic protocol in which members of the university community wore traditional academic dress in the corresponding colours.
The new doctors have received from the hands of the Principal of the University of Valencia, M. Vicenta Mestre, the symbols of the doctorate: the white gloves of purity in the exercise of academic activity, the laureate's cap with the colour corresponding to the scientific field in which the doctorate has been obtained, and the medal identifying the degree of doctorate from the University of Valencia.
In accordance with this traditional ceremony, the academic committees have been made up of the new PhDs, teaching staff, members of the Governing Council and Executive Council of the University of Valencia, and the choral society interpreted Veni Creator and at the end of the act, Gaudeamus Igitur, with which the ceremony was closed.
A ceremony chaired by the General Secretary, Dr. M. Elena Olmos, the Director of the Doctoral School, Dr. José Vicente Bagán, the Vice-principal for Studies, Dr. Isabel Vásquez and the Vice-principal for Research, Dr Carlos Hermengildo, along with the Principal, Dr. M. Vicenta Mestre.
