The Universitat de València will host this year the 11th International Congress of Psychology and Education, which will be held from 26 to 28 June 2023.

This congress, annually promoted by the Scientific Association of Psychology and Education (ACIPE), is organised in a different Spanish university every year. This time it will be organised by the Universitat de València and will take place in the Faculties of Teaching, Psychology and Speech Therapy and Philosophy and Educational Sciences.

The director of the Youth Chair, Paz Viguer, and the professor and member of the Chair, Maria José Cantero, are part of the organising committee of this event which includes international speakers such as Francesco Tonucci (Institute of Psychology of the National Research Council, Italy), Carol Holland (Lancaster University, UK), Natalio Extremera (University of Malaga), Mark Innocenti (Utah State University, USA) and Juan Pascual-Leone and Janice J. Johson (York University, Canada).

The theme of the congress is “Psychological well-being and digitalisation: the great challenge of psychology today”. Its aim is to address the major challenges that psychology is facing at an educational and social level, especially after the COVID-19 socio-health crisis. Isolation and poor socialisation during the pandemic have affected the development of children and young people, sometimes leading to anxiety and stress problems in children, adolescents and young people.

In addition, the speed at which the digitalisation process took place during the health crisis has widened the digital divide, reducing the social participation of people with a lack of digital skills, such as the elderly or economically vulnerable social groups. For this reason, this congress aims to be a discussion forum and a meeting point for different social actors, one that promotes knowledge and stimulates new ideas in order to provide answers to these major challenges in the field of psychology and education.

The Youth Chair is not only one of the sponsors of this congress, but will also participate with a panel of experts entitled “UV Youth Chair: perspectives on working with young people”, in which 5 members of the Youth Chair will take part: the director of the Chair, Paz Viguer, professor of the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology (UV); Maria José Cantero, professor of the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology (UV); Salvador Avià, consultant in Social Innovation; and the Youth technicians Janis Piñana and Enrique Deltoro.
