During the summer of 1984, with Margaret Tatcher as Prime Minister, the National Union of Miners (NUM) called a strike. During the manifestation of gay pride in London, a group of gays and lesbians dedicated themselves to raising money to help the worker’s families, but the union did not accept the money. The group decided, then, to contact miners directly, so they went the a little town in Wales. That is how the curious story of such different communities joined for a common cause.
