Registration open until 14 April. Seminar: 18, 20, 25 and 27 April.
The narrative of popular music was developed apart from art music, with certain exceptions. This has led the academic interest for its history and characteristics to appear late and to be generally bounded to ethnomusicology and cultural studies.
Currently, popular music is central in the culture, but in spite of this, the knowledge of its elements and its historical development is frequently limited.
The seminar wants to provide a view with perspective of the development of popular music through its most representative styles and performers, from the first recordings to the latest trends that include phenomena like the different club culture revivals or the possibilities of the digital era.
The seminar will be formed by different conferences that include the hearing and projection of examples from each time and gender. It will last 10 hours, divided in 4 sessions of 150 minutes each.
The seminar gives 1 free-elective credit for llicenciatures (former Spanish undergraduate degree) and diplomatures (former Spanish undergraduate degree).
Registration open until 14 April. Seminar: 18, 20, 25 and 27 April.
