La Nau Cultural Centre is a neoclassical building that was built in one of the most brilliant periods of Valencian architecture. Although there had been houses of higher education in Valencia since the 13th century, it was only in the early 15th century that they were grouped together in a Estudi General with statutes approved (1412) by the municipal government and the bishop Hug de Llupià.

The building consists of different elements such as the classical and monumental Cloister with the bronze sculpture of the humanist Joan Lluis Vives from 1880, the Paraninfo - the usual meeting place for the cloisters of professors and for solemn debates in Latin -, the Aula Magna, the Sapienzia Chapel - built by Pere Compte in 1498 -, the Library - where manuscripts, incunabula and printed, published between the 16th and 20th centuries are conserved - and the Exhibition Spaces and other rooms.
