In a little town, Walter, Jürgen and Sigi attend school and play football as any other kid of their age and status, ignoring the tragedy that is coming. In a desperate attempt to stop the advance of the American forces along the country, the German army recruit the boys that, ironically, will receive the order of defending tooth and nail the bridge that watch them grow and in which they started their friendship with other boys.
