Launching of the book by Antoni Llibrer

“Industria textil y crecimiento regional: La Vall d’Albaida y el Comtat en el siglo XV” (Textile growth and regional growth: La Vall d’Albaida and El Comtat in the 15th century)

Throughout 380 pages edited by the Support Unit of the concerned Office of the Vice-principal, the analysis of Antoni Llibrer complements the rich approach of the first development of rural industries, focusing on the lands of the south of Valencia (La Vall d’Albaida and El Comtat), relatively well enlighted by the sources but often ignored by the interest of medievalists. The book deals with an ambitious topic for understanding labour history, manufactures, technical dissemination and the foundations of rural business. With a diverse documentary and methodological backgrounds, the author has achieved a double goal, quantitative and qualitative: on one hand, he has confirmed the extraordinary quantity of manufacturing companies in the region studied (he has counted more of 600 craft districts connected with textile activities); on the other hand, Antonio Llibrer has been able to access to the craft business, its typologies and origin, its business and association models, and event to its commercial proposals and strategies.
