They born in the post-war period in the Cordoba borough of Alcolea, their childhood was marked by the hard work in the country houses and by the repression of the Franco dictatorship against their fathers and uncles. They migrated to Valencia between 1963 and 1964, where they joined the underground fight of the Communist Party and they participated in the creation of the Worker’s Commissions. The commitment to democracy and the winning back of freedom meant for them, detentions, tortures and imprisonments. In the 70s and during the Spanish transition to democracy, these families had a leading role in the struggle of the working class. One of them, Antonio Montalbán, was the first general secretary of CCOO (Worker’s Commission) at the Valencian Country and member of the Central Committee of the PCE (Spanish Communist Party). The commitment of the Montalbán and Moya families has survived to the present day. At a time of dictatorship of markets and of the large speculative capital, when workers are losing the conquests that cost one century and a half of fight, the Democratic Memoir is the “read thread” that will help us to defeat the neoliberalism and to get out of the “labyrinth”.
The event will be attended by David Lluch Almenar, member of the Political Council of the EU-La Val; Antonio Montalbán Gámez, historical activist of the PC-PV and co-founder of the CCOO-PV; Antonio Llorente Ferreres, members of the Political Council of the EU-La Vall and Salvador Piquer, member of the Political Council of the EU-La Vall and historical activist of the PC-La Vall.
