
Conference led by Juan José Lahuerta, architect and professors of Art History and Architecture at the School of Architecture of Barcelona. He has been member of the Collegio Docenti della Scuola Dottorati del Istituto Universitario di Architettura IUAV of Venecia and tenured of King Juan Carlos I Chair of Spanish Culture and Civilization at the New York University.
He has published books about art history and architecture of 19th and 20th centuries topics, among which the year 1929 stands out. “La abstracción necesaria” (Barcelona, 1989); Antoni Gaudí, 1852-1926. “Arquitettura, ideologia e politica” (Milano, 1992); Decir Anti es decir Pro. “Escenas de la vanguardia en España” (Teruel, 1999), receiving the First Publications Award at the “III Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura e Ingeniería Civil”, celebrated in Santiago de Chile in 2002; “Casa Batlló” Barcelona, 2001); “Le Corbusier. Espagne. Carnets” (París/Milano/Shopfheim, 2001); Gaudí. “Antología contemporánea” (Madrid, 2002); “El fenómeno del éxtasis.” “Dalí ca. 1933” (Madrid, 2004); “Japonecedades” (Barcelona, 2005); “Destrucción de Barcelona” (Barcelona, 2005); “Le Corbusier e la Spagna” (Milano, 2005); “Estudios antiguos” (Madrid, 2010), receiving the International Prize of Essay of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid; “Humaredas. Arquitectura, ornamentación, medios impresos” (Madrid, 2010), o “Le Corbusier” (Milano, 2011). He has also published anthologies of writings about Gaudí, Giorgio de Chirico or Le Corbusier, and he has been the editor of the essays of “Obras Completas de Salvador Dalí”.
He was founder and chairman, along with Antonio Pizza, of “CRC. Galería de Arquitectura” (Barcelona, 1985-1987), and he has commissioned exhibitions as “Dalí. Arquitectura” (Barcelona, 1996), “Arte Moderno y revistas españolas” (Madrid, Bilbao, 1996), “Margaret Michaelis. Fotografía, vanguardia y política en la Barcelona de la República” (Valencia, Barcelona, 1998), “Universo Gaudí” (Barcelona, Madrid, 2002), or “Salvador Dalí, Federico García Lorca y la Residencia de Estudiantes” (Madrid, 2010). he has been advicer of the “Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía de Madrid” (2004-2005), “senior curator” of “Museo Picasso de Barcelona” (2010-2011) and professor of the New York University.
Between 2013 and 2016 he has been Head of collections of the “Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña, MNAC”.
He has collaborated in several journals around the world and he has participated in scientific writing or board in journals such as “Carrer de la Ciutat” (Barcelona, 1977-1981), Buades. “Periódico de Arte” (Madrid, 1986-87), “3ZU” (Barcelona, 1993-1995) or “Event” (Santa Cruz de Tenerife (2001-2008). Currently, he is member of the Scientific and Editorial Committee in the journal “Casabella” of Milan.
He is founder and director of Mudito & Co. (Barcelona), which received a medal for his editorial labour in 2007.
