Ismael Semper is not Pere Calders. He is a terrible student, an intern dramatist, a poet, what is called “emerging”. Now that he got an order of writing a play from texts by the narrator from Barcelona, he can not get on well with it. Maybe it is not that difficult - in the end, as everyone, he is Pere Calders sometimes.
