
Seven teams will compete in the CADU today and tomorrow (1 and 2 March).
A total of seven teams of the Universitat de València will compete next week in the University Regional Sports Championship (CADU), the competition in which all the universities of the Valencian university system compete. Chess, badminton, fencing, frontenis, golf, table tennis and goalball will be the protagonists of the 1 and 2 of March in the most important sport event of the year where they will try to obtain the pass for the University Championships of Spain.
The chess team, leaded by Ramón García, will go to Elche on Tuesday to defend the autonomic title. The competition will be distributed in two sessions (morning and afternoon), will start at 10:00 and at the 19:30 will be the prize-giving ceremony at the room of the El Clot building of the University Miguel Hernández.
The badminton delegation will go to the Universitat d’Alacant, concretely to the Centro de Tecnificación. The competition will start at 10:30 and the prize ceremony is scheduled at 14:30. The team of Ivan Gallardó will try to improve the five bronze medals of the previous edition.
The frontenis team will also go to Elche, in this occasion to the Ciudad Deportiva de Elche. The team leaded by Cristina Ortiz, which won a gold medal the last year, will play an autonomic competition from 10:00 to 18:00.
The golf players of the University will also be in Alicante, concretely at the facilities of the Alenda Golf Monforte del Cid (Alicante). The team that won two metals in the last edition will compete at 10:00 in an 18 holes circuit.
The Palau d’Esports of the University Miguel Hernández de Elche will host the regional championship of table tennis. The team of the University leaded by José María Grau won two metals the last year and in this occasion will face a competition divided in two sessions (morning and afternoon) from 10:00 to 16:00.
The fencing players of the team leaded by Javier García will go to Alicante where they will play the autonomic championship on Tuesday, 2 March, in the central court of the Sports Pavilion of the Universitat d’Alacant. The competition will start at 10:30 and the prize ceremony is scheduled at 14:30.
Also the 2 March will take place the Goalball CADU, an adapted discipline that will shine in the Centro de Recursos Educativos de la ONCE (Alicante), between 10:30 and 14:00. A team leaded by Mónica Merenciano will début at the CADU with the objective of performing well in this first edition of the Championship.
