
The Universitat disputes regional finals
A total of eleven teams of the Universitat will dispute on Wednesday 9 March the finals of the regional championship. On 23 February the university competition, known as CADU league (acronym for University Sports Regional Championship) disputed its last competition round specific for team sports and now we only have to wait for the great final.
In this competition all the universities of the University Valencian System come together: the five public ones (Universitat de València, Jaume I, Alicante, Miguel Hernández) and the two private ones (Cardenal Herrera-CEU and Católica de San Vicente) and serves to proclaim the Valencian champions and also to determine what teams will represent the Universitat in the next University Spanish Championships.
The teams of the Universitat de València arrive at the great event in an excellent time, as they already showed on the last league round in which they ended the season with eight winnings in the nine games disputed in the last league round against the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón.
From the sports that are disputed in this Valencian championship, the Universitat competes the eleven finals. Specifically, participate in this final the teams of basketball, football, ruby and volleyball, both in women’s and men’s categories, as well as women’s handball, men’s indoor football and padel.
In this editions, the finals of CADU will be entirely organised in the facilities of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón. The event will be open at 10:00 h. by the teams of men’s football, women’s basketball and handball and men’s indoor football and volleyball. The football team will face the Catholic University of Valencia, while the women’s basketball team will dispute the final against the Miguel Hernández University of Elche. The men’s indoor football will also play against that university. The men’s volleyball team will play against the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia.
Also, the Universitat de València will have the possibility of get one more medal in tennis, where it will dispute the third and forth position before the Catholic University of Valencia at 10:00 h.
At 12:00 h. it will take place the games of women’s seven-a-side before the host team; men’s basketball and women’s volleyball before the University of Alicante and padel before the Catholic University of Valencia.
The rugby teams will close the event. Firstly men’s rugby at 13:00 h. before the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia, and then women’s rugby at 13:30 h. before the Catholic University of Valencia.
Also, the Universitat de València will have the possibility of get one more medal in tennis, where it will dispute the third and forth position before the Catholic University of Valencia at 10:00 h.
The awards ceremony is scheduled at 14:30 h. in the sports hall of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón. The entry to the whole event is free and constitutes a unique opportunity of seeing the best Valencian university teams in action.
