Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are two of the most prevalent neurodevelopmental conditions in childhood and have a significant impact on the wellbeing of children and their families. Although they differ in their core symptoms, both are associated with persistent difficulties that affect daily functioning and family quality of life, especially due to high levels of parental stress and continuous support demands.
In response to these needs, this project proposes the design and development of a structured psychosocial intervention program with digital support, delivered virtually and synchronously, aimed at families of children aged 7 to 11 with ASD without intellectual disability and with ADHD. The program integrates evidence-based strategies to enhance children’s social, attentional and cognitive skills, as well as parent-training components focused on behavioural management, improvement of educational competencies, and reduction of family stress.
The intervention will be evaluated through parental variables (parental stress, coping skills and social support) and child-related variables (executive functioning, family functioning, sleep difficulties and learning-related behaviour). In addition, the digital format will be assessed in terms of adherence and sustainability, aiming to overcome logistical barriers and improve access to support.
