In 2021, the Clinic participated with an amicus curiae before the Constitutional Court of Colombia whose objective was to study the causes that produce forced internal displacement.
The case concerned a couple of elderly rural people displaced by the overflow of the Riu Bojabá in the municipality of Saravena, Arauca (Colombia).
In a pioneering manner on a global scale, the ruling recognizes them as displaced people, protecting their fundamental rights and those of the neighboring community on the Bojabá River also affected by the overflowing.
