Introduction

The Lifelong Learning and Educational Innovation Service (SFPIE) located in the "Manuel Sanchis Guarner" Centre for Lifelong Learning and Educational Innovation coordinates the training initiatives of the UV staff (Technical, Management and Administration and Services Staff -PTGAS- and PDI) and the educational innovation initiatives necessary for the transformation of teachers.

In addition, it serves as a means of connection between the Universitat de València and non-university educational bodies in terms of teacher training and the corresponding educational research.  In December 2010, the UV's Lifelong Learning Service, which has existed since 1986, was administratively merged with the Educational Innovation Unit, created in 2009. Subsequently, at the Governing Council meeting on 20 December 2011, the change of name of the service to the Lifelong Learning and Educational Innovation Service (SFPIE) was approved.

The following lines of work are currently being carried out at SFPIE:

In ONGOING FORMATION:

1. Continuous training

This programme corresponds to the training provided by the institutional grants of the Valencian Institute of Public Administration (IVAP), which make up the programme traditionally called "Continuing Training" (also known as "Training for employment"), generally announced at the beginning of the year. These actions, aimed at both PTGAS and PDI, are part of an Annual Training Plan designed by the SFPIE, and published in the DOCV.

2. Continuous or in-house training

It is an offer of the University, which responds to the strategic training needs detected for each of the groups that make up the UV: the PTGAS, the PDI and the non-university teaching staff, insofar as it is also part of the educational fabric that surrounds the UV. This training is organized into different subprograms, or lines of action such as:

COMPACT TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS (for teaching and research staff)

For PTGAS:

3. On-demand training

There is the possibility of on-demand training,  which is requested by any group of UV professionals, who can suggest a training action to be developed from the SFPIE following the existing regulations.

4. Micro-credentials

They constitute a new training model promoted by the European Union to promote inclusion and equal opportunities, facilitate access to education, training and the development and updating of professional skills.

They are short learning experiences, not exceeding 150 hours, which are included as a Lifelong Learning offer, and with which it is possible to expand and diversify learning opportunities, at all stages of life and in all disciplines and sectors, contributing responsibly towards the commitment of universities to lifelong learning.

In EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION:

5. Educational Innovation Laboratory – HUV_Inn
They are articulated as a set of transversal actions for the transformation of teachers through experiences: formative, co-creation, participation that favor critical thinking and reflexivity of teachers. They revolve around new didactics, pedagogies and methodologies converging with the new models of digital and face-to-face teaching.  The compact title IDEES is part of the actions of the HUV-Inn
