The Universitat de València has established an Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) in seven areas, based on the organisational structure that has been developed since 2008. It is understood that this organisation responds correctly to the development of the system and that the educational community and the staff involved in its implementation are familiar with this organisation:
The following section will provide a brief overview of the UV’s IQAS:
Training programme (PF)
This area ensures the quality and adequate review of the fundamental and cross-cutting aspects of a degree programme, including the objectives of the curriculum and the students’ admission and graduate profiles.
The procedures that fall under this area are as follows:
Training programme | PF1 Procedure for the review of the competences and the graduate profile of the training programme |
PF2 Review of the students’ admission profile |
Organisation of teaching (OE)
The objective of this area is to present the mechanisms that enable university centres to guarantee the quality of the most significant processes related to the organisation of teaching.
The procedures included in this area are as follows:
Organisation of teaching | OE1 Student recruitment procedure |
OE2 Student selection, admission and enrolment procedure
OE3 Academic scheduling procedure
OE4 Educational scheduling procedure (teaching guides) |
Human resources (RH)
The objective of this area is to establish a systematic framework in order to ensure and enhance the quality of teaching and support staff. This entails guaranteeing their access, training, assessment, promotion and recognition, thereby enabling them to fulfil their designated roles effectively.
The procedures that fall under this area are as follows:
Human resources | RH1 Definition and review of the policy for teaching and research staff |
RH2 Teaching and research staff recruitment and selection procedure
RH3 Evaluation, promotion, recognition and incentives of teaching and research staff
RH4 Teaching and research staff training procedure
RH5 Definition and review of the policy for professional administrative staff
RH6 Professional administrative staff recruitment and selection procedure
RH7 Evaluation, promotion, recognition and incentives of professional administrative staff
RH8 Professional administrative staff training procedure |
Material resources and services (RM)
The objective of this area is to establish a systematic framework for university centres to effectively manage its services and material resources. This entails analysing and implementing continuous improvement on a regular and systematic basis.
The procedures are:
Material resources and services | RM1 Material resources management procedure |
RM2 Service management procedure |
Teaching development (DE)
This area concerns the manner in which university centres and degrees orient their teaching activities towards the learning of students. It begins with the provision of adequate information to define the students’ needs and continues with the establishment of mechanisms and procedures that guarantee their effective development and continuous improvement.
The procedures included in this area are as follows:
Teaching development | DE1 Academic and professional guidance procedure for students |
DE2 Mobility procedure for incoming students
DE3 Mobility procedure for outgoing students |
|
DE4 Procedure for the management and review of curricular external internships
DE5 Procedure for the management and review of degree final projects
DE6 Procedure for the development of the teaching and learning process
DE7 Procedure for the evaluation of the teaching and learning process |
Results (RE)
The objective of this area is to establish a systematic approach to measuring and analysing the results deemed crucial for ensuring the quality of university centres and their degree programmes. The results and reports generated from the data of the performance indicators and the surveys developed to ascertain the satisfaction of stakeholders are input information for the evaluation and improvement of all the procedures of the IQAS. This ensures that objective and measurable data are used for decision-making.
The procedures are:
Results | RE1 Procedure for the analysis and measurement of results |
RE2 Procedure for the analysis and measurement of stakeholder statisfaction
RE3 Procedure for the implementation of teacher evaluation surveys |
Quality assurance system (SG)
The objective of this area is to guarantee that the quality assurance procedures of university centres and degree programmes are duly implemented. The most crucial aspect of the Internal Quality Assurance System is the formulation and revision of the quality policy and objectives, as it serves as the foundation for the subsequent procedures of the IQAS.
The specific procedures that fall under this area are as follows:
Quality assurance system | SG1 Procedure for the elaboration and revision of the quality police and objectives |
SG2 Procedure for internal quality audit
SG3 Public information procedure
SG4 Incident management and review procedure
SG5 Procedure for the design of curricula
SG6 Procedure for curriculum recommendations and modifications
SG7 Procedure for the termination of a degree
SG8 IQAS document management procedure |
It is important to note that all IQAS procedures conclude with an evaluation report that analyses their development. It is responsibility of the Quality Committee of the university centre to ensure that the fundamental aspects are evaluated in a uniform manner, utilising a consistent document structure. This structure must include the aspects to be analysed, the improvement plan of the previous evaluation process, the results of the indicators and the opinion surveys. The report must conclude with a detailed improvement action plan.
