Visit to the Historic Building of the Universitat de València
On Monday 25 May, from 5 p.m. onwards, we will take a guided tour of the historic building of La Nau.
This building has been the headquarters of the Universitat de València since its foundation at the end of the 15th century. The General Council of the city agreed to group all the existing higher studies of the city since the 13th century in a General Study and promoted them to university rank. To this end, between 1490 and 1493, it acquired a series of houses and plots of land in the vicinity of Carrer de la Nau and commissioned Pere Compte to remodel them.
The current architectural configuration of the building is the result of a succession of interventions that have adapted it to its different functions and needs over more than five centuries. Its façades and cloister, especially, are a magnificent example of Valencian neoclassical architecture.
Today, in addition to constituting the institutional headquarters of the Rectorate and hosting the Historical Library, La Nau houses an important part of the cultural activities of the Universitat de València.
Visit to the Historical Centre of the City of València
From 6 p.m. onwards, once the tour of the La Nau building is over, we will take a guided tour of the old quarter of València, a testimony to 21 centuries of history and where some of the city's heritage treasures are concentrated: the Lonja de la Seda, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Cathedral, the Miguelete, the Santa Catalina tower, the Palace of the Marqués of Dos Aguas, the Central Market, the Basilica of the Virgin, the Almoina, and so on.
Conference Dinner
The dinner of the sixth edition of the Conference of Reflection and Debate of the Quality Units of Spanish Universities will take place on the terrace of the Hotel Astoria, in the heart of València and a few meters from the Town Hall Square.
