The senior editor of the prestigious journal Physical Review Letters, Robert Garisto, and the publishing editor of the pioneer magazine in Open Access New Journal of Physics, will visit the facilities of the Science Park of the University of Valencia from 9:00 pm, on thursday July 3rd. At 12:00 pm, they will meet with professors and researchers of the Faculty of Physics and the Science Park in a Conference and Round-Table at the Auditorium of the Science Park (Edifici de Capçalera, Paterna Campus).

The visit, organized by the Faculty of Physics, University of Valencia, include various laboratories of the Instituto de Física Corpuscular (IFIC), Instituto de Ciencia de los Materiales (ICMUV) and the Instituto de Ciencia Molecular  (ICMol). The joint conference will be followed by an open discussion with professors and researchers of the Faculty of Physics and the Science Park around the two models of scientific publication represented these journals.

Robert Garisto, editor of Physics Review Letters (PRL), belonging to the American Physical Society (APS), will give an insider's view of PRL, with special emphasis on its restrictive review process and how it has been affected since the magazine has increased their requirements on scientific quality, offering some practical tips on how to overcome it successfully. He will also discuss some issues concerning models of Open Access publishing, known by its acronym OA (Open Access).

Meanwhile, Simon Buckmaster, New Journal of Physics (NJP) publishing editor, belonging to the prestigious Institute of Physics (IOP) and the German Physical Society (Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft, DPG), will explain how the process of digitization of publications introduced scientific benefits but also challenges to researchers and editors, and how the publications belonging to IOP have responded to these challenges. NJP magazine pioneered the development and standardization of OA model.
