International Double Degree Programme in Physics with the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz

The Universitat de València (UV) and the Johannes Gutenberg Universität (JGU) in Mainz (Germany) have signed an agreement regarding an International Double Degree Programme that allows the acquisition of four official degrees in the field of Physics upon completion of the five-year programme.

What does it consist of?

In 5 years you will be able to obtain:

  • “Degree in Physics” and “Master's Degree in Advanced Physics” from the UV.
  • “Bachelor of Science” in Physics and “Master of Science” in Physics from JGU.

The degrees are obtained in a staggered manner, so that at the end of the third year students enrolled in the programme can obtain the Bachelor of Science in Physics from JGU, at the end of the fourth year, the “Degree in Physics” from UV, and the two aforementioned masters at the end of the fifth year.

How does it work?

Students wishing to enrol in the programme from the UV must:

  • Take the first and second years of the “Degree in Physics” at the UV.
  • Take the third and fourth year of studies at JGU, taking subjects from the third year of their Physics BSc and the first year of their MSc in Physics.
  • The fifth year can be taken either at the UV or at the JGU (with a three-week stay at the UV).

What requirements do you have to meet to join the programme?

  • You must be enrolled in the second year of the Physics degree at UV.
  • Have a B1 certificate in English or higher at the time of application.
  • Have a B1 certificate in German or higher at the time of application.
  • Limited number of placements

Grants

  • Erasmus Studies grant for the third year of studies.
  • UV International Programme grant or FORTHEM grant.
