The unit, made up of professors of the Department of Psychobiology, aims to research the effect of psychotropics on memory. So far, our studies have been focused on studying the effect of several antidepressants, especially amitriptyline, on memory, measured mainly in the inhibitory avoidance task in male and female mice. We plan to extend the studies to humans. We also plan to include new substances, like legal drugs, caffeine, nicotine and alcohol, to improve the knowledge of their effects on human memory, work activity and risk behaviors.
