The objective of the research is to study the relationship between violence and health, both in relation to the aggressor and the victim: the contribution of biology to violent behaviour and the impact of violence on victims. Studies are conducted in both animal models and in humans. In relation to the aggressor, the research focuses on determining which biological aspects favour violent behavior, as well as its interaction with social factors and their contribution to the cycle of violence. In relation to the victim, the research aims to determine the impact that the experience of victimisation has on the health of the victims, both in the mental, physical and social health and in the physiological systems. The results of the research are applied to diagnosis, prevention and intervention.
