Launch of the SAFE project “Supporting At-risk researchers with Fellowships in Europe” funded by the European Union. This project will offer up to 60 scholarships for at-risk researchers from non-EU countries, allowing them to carry out a research stay at a higher education or research institution in Europe for a period of up to 24 months. The initiative responds to the growing need to provide a safe environment for these researchers to continue their work in the EU.
The call opened on November 18, 2024. Applications must be submitted by potential host institutions, and not by the researchers themselves. Each host institution may submit only one application.
While some host institutions are already in contact or working with at-risk researchers, there are others that have not yet identified suitable candidates. To respond to this need, SAFE offers a matching service to help European institutions and at-risk researchers find each other, making it easier for each host institution to find the right researcher for its host offer.
In addition, the SAFE launch and information event was held on November 19, 2024.This webinar aims to inform potential EU host institutions and at-risk researchers of any non-European nationality about the call. The presentations are available for download here.
