Description of research activity:

The group has been doing research in quantum optics, nonlinear optics, laser dynamics and other systems since 1989, with stable and uninterrupted funding through the national research plans of the Spanish government. The research is of a basic nature and seeks to describe new phenomena, both through theory and experiment. An important part of the group's activity is the training of PhDs, with 10 doctoral theses having been defended by 2019.

Scientific-technical goals:
  • Estudio de nuevos mecanismos para la reducción de las fluctuaciones cuánticas de la luz
  • Descripción de nuevos formalismos para el estudio de la dinámica de láseres modelocked
  • Busca de nuevos comportamientos en paseadas cuánticas y de sus implementaciones
  • Descripción de nuevas formas de actuar sobre la dinámica espaciotemporal de sistemas no lineales, ópticos en particular
 
Research lines:
  • Laser physics.Modelling and characterisation of the dynamics of mode-locked lasers.
  • Quantum fluctuations of light.Study of quantum fluctuations of light, in particular mechanisms that produce a squeezing of quantum noise below the shot noise level, as well as quantum entanglement.
  • Non-linear dynamics.Modelling, simulation and experimental study of the non-linear dynamics of optical cavities and other systems, solitons and spatial patterns.
  • Quantum walks.Theoretical studies on quantum walks and proposed implementations in optical devices.
