Description of research activity:

This research group is made up of people from different disciplines or areas of knowledge such as speech therapy, psychology, linguistics, dentistry and neurology, who carry out their professional work in different countries such as Chile, Portugal, France and, of course, Spain, more specifically in Valencia. All these professionals have in common the study and multi-disciplinary research in the field of speech therapy, more specifically in the following areas: disorders of vision and resonance, speech disorders of central aetiology, speech disorders of organic origin and orofacial motility.

Scientific-technical goals:
  • Profundizar en el conocimiento de la voz normal, de los trastornos de la voz de origen orgánico, funcional, psicogénico, voz transgénero (entre otras)
  • Conocer mejor los trastornos de la resonancia, derivados en gran medida de la disfunción velofaríngea, así como de su evaluación y rehabilitación
  • Profundizar en el conocimiento de las dificultades de comunicación y del lenguaje de personas con afasia y demencia
  • Conocer mejor la relación entre las dificultades de comunicación y del lenguaje en personas con afasia y demencia y las funciones ejecutivas.
  • Desarrollar técnicas para la evaluación y el tratamiento de los trastornos del habla de etiología orgánica, anatómica o estructural.
 
Research lines:
  • Voice and resonance disorders.The aim of this line of research is to deepen our knowledge, on the one hand, of vision disorders of organic, functional, psychogenic and transgeneric origin (among others) and, on the other hand, of resonance disorders derived to a large extent from velopharyngeal dysfunction.
  • Language disorders of central etiology.The aim of this line of research is to deepen our understanding of the communication and language difficulties of people with aphasia and dementia, and their relationship with executive functions; to develop tests and protocols for language and communication exploration and rehabilitation.
  • Speech disturbances of organic origin. Orofacial motricity.This line of research has two clearly differentiated objectives: 1. To deepen our knowledge, assessment and treatment of speech disorders of organic, anatomical or structural aetiology. 2. To deepen knowledge of oro-facial motor skills in repetition and associated with different activities.
