The Neurogenesis and Neural Plasticity Group (NeuroPlaNe) focuses its research on the study of the cellular and tissue mechanisms that regulate the generation, maturation, and plasticity of neurons within the nervous system. Its scientific activity integrates approaches from developmental neurobiology, adult neurogenesis, and comparative neurobiology, with particular interest in neuronal populations exhibiting protracted maturation and in their contribution to brain organization and plasticity under both physiological and pathological conditions. As a priority, the group investigates the biology of neural stem cells and progenitor cells, as well as the mechanisms that regulate their proliferation, migration, and integration within nervous tissue. These studies include the analysis of strategies with translational and therapeutic potential, such as the use of biomaterials and the study of neuronal migration processes toward sites of injury, with the aim of advancing knowledge on the processes of repair and regeneration of the nervous system.
NO DETERMINADA
- Neurogenesis and neuronal maturation in the postnatal brain.Study of the processes that regulate the generation, maturation, and maintenance of neurons in the postnatal brain, with particular interest in neuronal populations exhibiting protracted maturation. This line addresses the cellular and temporal mechanisms that shape their structural and functional integration across different developmental stages and during adulthood.
- Cellular and molecular mechanisms of neural plasticity.Analysis of the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that modulate neural plasticity throughout life, including molecular, endocrine, and circuit activity¿dependent signals. This line integrates approaches from developmental neurobiology, adult neurogenesis, and comparative neurobiology to understand the dynamic reorganization of the nervous system under physiological and pathological conditions.
- Translational strategies for the modulation of neurogenesis and neural plasticity.Development and evaluation of approaches with translational potential aimed at modulating processes of neurogenesis, neuronal maturation, and plasticity, including the use of biomaterials and the study of mechanisms that promote neuronal migration, integration, and functional performance in contexts of tissue injury or alteration.
