Research Group on Socioeconomic, Regional and Demographic Dynamics - DiSReD

Reference of the Group:

GIUV2026-043

Description of research activity:

1. Dynamic modelling of complex socioeconomic phenomena through linear and nonlinear systems, including regional input-output analysis and hypothetical extraction methods. 2. Application of differential equations and stochastic models to demographic and actuarial analysis under uncertainty, with special attention to stability, temporal evolution, cyclical behaviour, and transitions. 3. Study of emergent behaviours and decomposition techniques applied to socioeconomic and demographic systems, especially in labour markets, education, housing, and youth emancipation. 4. Discrete response and multilevel models applied to housing analysis and its socioeconomic dynamics.

Scientific-technical goals:
  • 3. Desarrollar técnicas de análisis regional y territorial, incluyendo modelos input-output, métodos de extracción hipotética y modelos de respuesta discreta y multinivel aplicados a vivienda, mercado de trabajo y emancipación juvenil.

Research lines:
  • Regional Economics.Analyses are carried out on the state of the regional economy using various statistical and econometric techniques. Likewise, the framework of input-output tables is considered to measure the economic impact of an economic system, and theories related to the Hypothetical Extraction Method are used and developed.
  • Dynamicla Systems and Applications. In the social sciences, dynamical systems can be used to model the temporal evolution of complex phenomena (such as economics, demography, public opinion, or social diffusion) through equations that capture linear and nonlinear interactions. They allow the analysis of evolution, stability, cyclic patterns, transitions, and emergent behaviors arising from interactions between agents and structures.
  • Decompositional Techniques and Applications to Young People and Applications to Young People.Adaptation of decompositional techniques to different issues affecting young people, such as residential independence, employment, educational attainment, or housing, among others.
  • Discrete Response Models. Applications to Housing.Discrete response models such as multinomial logit and bivariate probit are applied to the main issues related to housing, both primary and secondary. These models are also used within a multilevel framework.
