Anglès: This is a group working on several lines of research:
1. Evaluation of knee implant outcomes through physical, psychological, and functional assessments to verify the effectiveness of this procedure. This project, funded by the ISCIII (Carlos III Health Institute), is being carried out in collaboration with the Biomechanics Institute of the UPV (Polytechnic University of Valencia), the unit for the assessment of personal autonomy and dependency in severe mental disorders (coordinated by Professor Tabarés Seisdedos), which has a biomechanical assessment laboratory for functional evaluations, and the clinical hospital itself, which performs imaging, clinical, and laboratory assessments. A new funding request has been submitted to the ISCIII, but despite a positive evaluation, it has not yet been approved. Previously, the project was also funded by Mutua Madrileña (a mutual insurance company).

3. Thanks to the research group, a new cemented stem from Zimmer-Biomet, designed by Professor Silvestre and other researchers, is now on the market. This stem is the prototype for the Taperloc series of cemented stems. This stem is not just a research project; it is a product already available on the market and bears Professor Silvestre's name.
4. A working group with CEU Valencia is developing an activity to identify biomarkers for degenerative osteoarticular disease. Professor Silvestre performs extractions of potential disease markers at the hospital, which are then analyzed and verified at CEU Valencia's data analysis centers.
5. Analytical and genetic determination of rare diseases is being carried out within the Rare Diseases Working Group of Incliva and the University of Valencia. Assessment of patients with multiple osteochondromatosis, multiple enchondromatosis, osteogenesis imperfecta, etc., who have reached adulthood and require solutions to their problems.
6. Collaboration in the national hip registry, which provides nationwide information on the risks and outcomes of patients who suffer a hip fracture, analyzing in detail the factors that contribute to its occurrence. This has been the subject of doctoral theses already defended at this University of Valencia and is currently the subject of new doctoral theses in development that demonstrate the factors related to this population health epidemic.
7. Development of robotic procedures in reconstructive knee and hip surgery through the use of assistive robots in clinical practice, leading to the establishment of a national training center for professionals in the use of robotics in conventional surgery.

- Desarrollo de Nuevas Técnicas y Tecnologías: Investigación y desarrollo de nuevas técnicas quirúrgicas y tecnologías médicas avanzadas, como las patentes conseguidas por el grupo.
- Estudios Epidemiológicos con detallado análisis de incidencia y prevalencia de lesiones ortopédicas y traumatológicas.
- Investigación básica necesaria para compresión de los fundamentos fisiológicos de las enfermedades ortopédicas y traumatismos.
- Colaboración interdisciplinaria con otros profesionales de la salud y con el objetivo de difundir el conocimiento generado a través de congresos y papers.
- El grupo de investigación y aplicación clínica de las nuevas tecnologías (vástagos, sistemas de protetización, robótica, impresión 3D...) tiene como objetivo implementar la calidad de vida de los pacientes afectos por el denominado "aging" propio de la involución de los tejidos. Asimismo emplean parte de su trabajo de investigación a colaborar con diferentes profesionales en el desarrollo de nuevos procedimientos de medicina regenerativa cuya finalidad es restaurar la estructura del sistema musculo esquelético. Estan llevando a cabo diferentes estudios con células indiferenciadas para lograr su diferenciación en el sentido deseado. Esta tecnología en combinación con la IA permitira seleccionar aquellos pacientes que puedan beneficiarse de estas terapias.
- Investigación Clínica mediante la realización de estudios clínicos para evaluar la eficacia y seguridad de nuevas técnicas quirúrgicas, dispositivos médicos o tratamientos en pacientes con patología músculo-esquelética, algunos de los cuales son motivos de la investigación básica que realiza el grupo y que busca su aplicación en la practica cotidiana.
- Member of the Osteoarticular Translational Research Group of the Institut d'Investigació Sanitària-INCLIVA that kept open the following research lines: Competitive Public Funds: Cellular oxidative stress and the link between idiopathic femoral osteonecrosis. FIS; Cellular mechanisms regulating the inflammatory response in chronic inflammatory pathologies. SAF; Protective strategies against osteoarticular degradation processes. SAF; Local mechanical stimulation of mesenchymal cells for the specific osteogenic and chondrogenic differentiation in regenerative medicine. SAF.Multidisciplinary research group focused on the analysis of the effects of oxidative stress on the vascularization of ossi tissue. This study analyzes the chronic inflammatory response in the tissues together with the goal of seeking strategies for the prevention of osteoarticular malady, as well as the mechanism of differentiation of the mesenchymal cells and the reparative dynamism of the tissues. This project received funding from MINECO. Currently, this group collaborates with other entities and universities, conducting research on myeloid cells as factors involved in pathologies related to bone loss. PI10/02600, SAF2017-85806-R.
- Design of a new femoral cemented stem. Taperloc.This project was recently developed and completed, with commercialization beginning in December 2025 in Europe and the rest of the world. It is pending FDA approval, which requires clarification of several regulatory requirements. The project was developed in collaboration with professors from the Universities of Oxford and Heidelberg.
- Development of a device for limb exoprosthesis and a collar for exoprosthesis coverage.The development of these two prosthetic and protection systems resulted in two national patents, 201631220 and 201631218, and the project was funded by a FISS grant, DTS18/00177.
- Development of a methodology for monitoring patients with knee prostheses. A tool for detecting predictors of poor functional outcome and patient dissatisfaction after knee arthroplasty..This project was developed to identify, prior to surgery, knee prostheses that may lead to unsatisfactory results (it is estimated that up to 20% do not produce the expected outcomes). Detailed analysis of the results obtained allows for the identification of factors that may contribute to implant failure. The project was developed in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and the Mental Deterioration Group of the University of Valencia (UV), and was funded by Mutua Madrileña. It was subsequently evaluated positively by the FISS, although it did not receive funding.
