The University of Valencia (UV) is the third Spanish higher education institution, the first Valencian one and improves positions on a European and international scale, according to the latest update of the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), which measures the quality and quantity of the scientific publications from up to 3,000 universities around the world. Compared to the previous edition (2020-2021), the Valencian centre climbed to 210th place in the world, after advancing 7 positions, while at the European level it climbed one, to 85th.

Barba, researchers at the University of Valencia, are listed in the Highly Cited Researchers 2021, a ranking with the world’s scientific elite in terms of the number of citations of their work on research, according to bibliometric data provider Clarivate Analytics.

The University of Valencia (UV) has improved for the fourth consecutive year internationally in the Best Global Universities research ranking and is advancing 14 positions this year, to 212 in the world. In Europe, the institution climbs to 88 (9 positions). In Spain it remains the fifth best and is the first Valencian one. By subjects, the UV occupies the twelfth world position in Agricultural Sciences (first in Spain) and is the 68th in the world in Environmental and Occupational Health, in addition to being first in the Valencian Public System in 21 of the 27 classified subjects.

The University of Valencia (UV) has improved in all the indicators of the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking of universities, an international classification of 1,662 centres based on teaching, research, scientific citations, international perspective, reputation and market income. The University of Valencia (UV) has improved its position in the Taiwan ranking, an international ranking on university performance based on scientific publications and citations. The institution is third in Spain and the first and only Valencian one, and gains positions at European and international level compared to 2020 (4 and 1, up to positions 79 and 2010, respectively). By subjects, the centre is the first in Spain in Economics and Business, and in Agricultural Sciences; second in Physics; and third in six: Chemistry, Psychiatry / Psychology, Geosciences, Space Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Engineering and Environment / Ecology. By fields of knowledge, the UV leads the Spanish classification in Natural Sciences.

La Universitat de València (UV) s’ha consolidat com una de les huit primeres universitats espanyoles en la classificació mundial d’universitats 2021 ARWU (Academic Rànquing of World Univesities), també conegut com a Rànquing de Xangai. The Web Ranking (Webometrics) of universities is an initiative of the CSIC’s Cybermetrics Lab research group that analyses 11,987 entities. According to the latest update, today, Wednesday, the University of Valencia (UV) improves one position and is already the third Spanish higher education centre, in addition to the first Valencian one. Internationally it climbs to world position number 192 (215 in 2020) and in Europe it advances 9 positions, to place 61.

The IUNE Observatory, a tool that analyses the academic and research activity of Spanish public and private universities, highlights that the University of Valencia (UV) has increased the number of scientific citations of its faculty articles by 9.46% between 2020 and 2021, so that it has gone from 605,289 references to 692,047. Regarding the number of publications, the institution reached 32,905 in the 2021 edition, compared to 30,061 in 2020.

The University of Valencia (UV) is the first in Spain in five subjects in the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) for fields of knowledge, and first in the Valencian Community in 26 of the 33 areas analysed. In addition, in four (Food Engineering, in position 27; Business; History and Astronomy and Astrophysics, it is among the best 100 in the world, and in 14 among the first two hundred. In the institutional ranking, out of 3,000 centres analysed, the UV It is the third academic institution of Spanish higher education, the first Valencian one, and ranks 217 in the world.
