The Doctorate Honoris Causa is the highest distinction the University of Valencia gives a person in recognition of his/her career in the academic, scientific or cultural fields, of his/her values, as well as his/her special link with the University.
Candidates to 'Honoris Causa' Doctor can be proposed by Faculty Board, Departments Councils or by the Principal of the University.
Candidates that possess the requirements collected within the Regulations that regulates the procedure of nomination 'Honoris Causa' are invested in a solemn ceremony taking place in the main hall of the University of Valencia, by following a specific and traditional protocol in which the invested receives the Mortarboard, the Ring of Wisdom, the Science Book and the white gloves.
From this moment, the new 'Honoris Causa' Doctor is incorporated to the lecturers Senate of the University of Valencia.
