
The publication of the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) 2016, which evaluates the efficiency of 2.000 universities of the world, places the Universitat de València in the third position in Spain, only led by the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In a global level, the Valencian centre has improve its position, from the 193rd in the last edition, to the 188th.
The approach of the URAP ranking, for the Middle East Technical University (METU), is based on the academic quality and, unlike the most of the international rankings, which cover the top 500 of university institutions, it develops a system of multiple criteria classification in order to evaluate a wider number of universities. In this edition have been studied data from 2.000 centres of higher education, that is a 10% of the total world.
It is necessary to highlight the recognition obtained by the Universitat de València in the disciplines of Physical Science, Chemical Sciences, Business, Management, Tourism and Services, and Mathematics Sciences. Regarding Physical Sciences, the Universitat de València, is located in the 79th position in global level and the second in the Spain. In Chemistry it is the 141st and the 4th in national level. In Business, Management, Tourism and Services is the 171st of the world and the 3rd in Spain. Finally, in Mathematics Sciences the Universitat de València is the 188th in the international classification and the 6th in Spain.
The University of Harvard (United States) is in the 1st position of the ranking, and the first European one is the University of Oxford (United Kingdom) which is the 3rd in the global level.
Methodology
The ranking does the classification according 6 indicators: the current scientific production, the impact in research according to citations, the sustainability measure and the continuity of the scientific productivity and the corrected scientific productivity. It evaluates too the impact of corrected research and international collaboration data, that is, the total number of publication done in collaboration with foreign universities. rsities.
