The double degree in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism offers students the opportunity to gain the necessary training, knowledge and methodology in both fields. Firstly, it equips students with the cultural, humanistic and technical skills needed to interpret social reality in the design, formulation, production, management, analysis and direction of all types of news products and programmes. Secondly, it affords students with a detailed and nuanced understanding of the different means of communication and media, as well as their evolution and history. Furthermore, the programme provides comprehensive training in the techniques and processes of audiovisual creation, production and distribution in its various phases. It also demonstrates the interrelationships between the subjects of audiovisual communication, including authors, institutions, companies, media, supporters and audiences.

The curriculum of these studies allows students to obtain degrees in both Audiovisual Communication and Journalism in a total of five academic years.

The double degree has been designed to provide a comprehensive theoretical and practical multimedia training, with the support of the Audiovisual Workshop (TAU), which boasts specific studios and technical resources for press, photography, radio, television, video, cinema, design and the production of interactive content. Concurrently, the curriculum prioritises the acquisition of a multi-specialised journalistic expertise in the domains of society, politics, culture, economics, science and technology. The teaching methodology combines reflective, critical and experimental approaches complemented by a compulsory external internship at a company or media outlet. 
In order to obtain the Double Degree in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism, students must demonstrate communicative competence in a foreign language at a B1 level. This level will be formally recognised during the final year, with the issue of a certificate accrediting the achievement of B1 level. The Universitat de València’s L2 Language Accreditation Equivalence Table (ACGUV 156/2018 modified by ACGUV 147/2023) provides a framework for language level accreditation.
