The UV pays tribute to the philosopher Carlos Paris, at the Auditorium of La Nau.

Next Monday, on 7 April, the UV will pay tribute to the philosopher, writer and president of the Atheneum of Madrid, Carlos Paris, who passed away recently. The ceremony, which is entitled “Homage to Carlos Paris: Philosophy, Science and Social Transformation” will be held at the auditorium of La Nau at 19:00 and it will be presided by Esteban Morcillo, principal of the UV.

The ceremony will be attended by Jesús Alcolea, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences of Education of the UV; Antonio Ferraz Fayos, full university professor of Philosophy of the Autonomic University of Madrid; Sergio Sevilla Segura, full university professor of Philosophy of the UV; Carlos Minguez Perez, full university professor of Philosophy of the UV and Lidia Falcon, a doctorate in Philosophy and a Lawyer.

Carlos Paris (Bilbao, 1925) passed away last 31 January in Madrid. He was a philosopher, a writer, a columnist and president of the Atheneum of Madrid. He passed away at the age of 88. Emeritus full university professor of the Autonomic University of Madrid, enjoyed a long academic career which began when he obtained his first chair in the University of Santiago at the age of 25.

Doctor “honoris causa” by the University, he was the first dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature chosen at the start of the democratic stage. He has been president of the Spanish Society of Philosophy and president of the Association of Rubén Darío Franco-Nicaraguan friendship.

He is the author of numerous books on Philosophy and Literary creation, translated to several languages, among the titles outstand “Fisica y Filosofia” (Physics and Philosophy), “Unamuno- Estructura de su mundo intelectual’” (Unamuno- Structure of his Intelectual World), “Critica de la Civilización Nuclear” (Critic of the Nuclear Civilization), “Fantasia y Razon: Odiseo, Don Quijote y Fausto” (Fantasy and Reason: Odysseum, Don Quijote and Faustus), “Memorias sobre medio siglo: de la Contrarreforma a Internet’” (Memories on a half of century: of the Counter-Reformation to Internet). In the field of literary creation it must be highlighted the novel “Bajo constelaciones burlonas” (Under Teaser Constellations) and the book of short stories ‘”La máquina speculatrix” (The Spectaculatrix Machine).
