
Located on all four walls of the main cloister of La Nau is a set of 17 medallions representing the Jurats of the city that helped to establish the Universitat de València at the end of the 15th and beginning of the 16th century. We can also see images of illustrious individuals linked to the history of the institution: Saint Vincent Ferrer, who is believed to have promoted the creation of the Estudi General in 1410, the illustrious dean Vicente Blasco, and Antonio Jose Cavanilles, an important figure of modern botany.
These medallions were created by students at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1902, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the Universitat de València. The busts are represented in a classical stance, in profile and surrounded by a laurel wreath in the form of a tondo. They can be identified by the inscription in gold on each medallion.
