MUTUALCORE
Title: Changes with age of the interactions of the microbiota with its human host and determination of a permanent core of mutualistic symbionts
Research groups: Evolutionary Genetics and Theory, Bioinformatics and Computation
In this project we aim to demonstrate: 1) The existence of nucleus of microbial taxa that are true mutualistic symbionts and are present throughout the life of the human host; Specifically, we will determine the universal presence (by geographic distribution and throughout life) of species and genders corresponding to at least seven families of microorganisms that have co-evolved with the human species and we will perform their functional analysis; and 2) the existence of microbial taxa that are responding adaptively to host demands or external factors at specific moments in its life, showing a coupling of these taxa with the host.
