
The University of Valencia has begun on Tuesday, 5 November, the 15th edition of the Week of Science, Technology and Innovation with various activities organized by the Chair for Scientific Dissemination UCC + i, which aims to promote the scientific culture of society in general and, in particular, science vocations of young people.
“La Ciencia, tu Futuro” (Science, Your Future) is one of the most important actions of this announcement including the execution of 35 Mathematics Tours around the city of Valencia, 24 conferences by Scientifics of the University of Valencia, CSIC and the University of Alacant in secondary schools and high schools, and Astronomy workshops, Geology and Mathematics at the University laboratories. The programme is funded by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Research and Science Policy, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and the Spanish Royal Society of Physics.
The Science Week also includes activities for the general public, as this Tuesday 5 November lecture by Professor of Journalism at the University of Valencia, biologist, writer and editor of magazine Mètode, Martí Dominguez on 'Nature in the Renaissance painting' , which is part of the Lecture Series of the XXV Ciutat d' Alzira Literary Awards. The lecture took place in the Auditorium of the House of Culture. On Monday 11 November at 19:00 in La Nau, Catherine Lara will also dictate the presentation “Women in biochemistry and molecular biology”.
On Friday 8 November, at dinner delivery of these awards in Alzira, the University of Valencia will deliver the XIX European Science Award General Studies endowed with 12.000 euros and the publication of the manuscript in the collection Sin Fronteras (Without Borders) at the University of Valencia Publications, the Chair for Scientific Dissemination and Edicions Bromera.
Stimulating innovative and creative attitude
The Chair for Scientific Dissemination UCC + i of the University of Valencia also will convene in the coming weeks the V Llegir sense Fronteres Awards (Reading without borders). The aim of these awards is to encourage the reading habit, innovative thinking, research and creativity of students in middle and high school education, therefore, intends to work on any of the books from the collections Sin Fronteras and Sense Fronteres, promoted by the Chair for Scientific Dissemination.
