The Campus of International Excellence VLC/CAMPUS and ANDALUCÍA TECH present the initiative California Spain Campus in University of California at Berkeley

The Campus of International Excellence VLC/CAMPUS (formed by Universitat de València, Universitat Politècnica de València and Spanish Research Council) and ANDALUCÍA TECH (promoted by the universities of Seville and Malaga) present the initiative California Spain Campus that has been created with the purpose of recognising the collaboration activities with University of California at Berkeley planned under the framework of memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in 2013.

This initiative, as well of supposing a strong and stable connection with the University of California at Berkeley, also constitutes the first union in Spain between two Campus of International Excellence to the realisation of network activities.

 

On 19 and 20 November the ‘Spain Global Entrepreneurship’ will be celebrated, which will serve to publicly present the project. This event will focus on the entrepreneurship, investigation, innovation and technology transfer. On one hand, on 19 November, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology of University of Berkeley, will host the conference ‘European Entrepreneur Ecosystem Development’ in which the General Secretary of Universities for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, Federico Morán Abad, will introduce the programme Campus of International Excellence in Spain and J. Miguel Villas-Boas, professor of Hass School of Business, will give a lecture about ‘Branding and Pricing Strategies in the Digital Economy’.

 

On the other hand, on 20 November, the Google headquarter in Silicon Valley will host the celebration of the conference ‘Spain Global Technology Leadership’ with the lectures of Bran Bout, Director of Google for Education, and of Pilar Manchón, the founder of the startup INDISYS.

 

In both sessions will participate entrepreneurs from the promoter universities of VLC/CAMPUS and ANDALUCÍA TECH, that will share their experiences with the attendees to the event. In the framework of the initiative California Spain Campus it has been also developed in 2014 a mobility programme from the two Spanish CIS by means of four specific calls of research stays that have allowed 42 researchers (8 from University of Seville, 16 of University of Malaga, 12 of Universitat de València and 6 of Universitat Politècnica de València) to intensify their research activity through the exchange and update of knowledge and scientific information.
