Debate on the closure of Canal 9, today at the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication

To analyse the closure of RTVV by the Government of Alberto Fabra, as well as the social and political implications of this decision. This is the objective of the round table programmed for the 2 December at the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication at the University of Valencia. The session will begin at 18:00 in the Saló d'Actes. Admission is free.

The debate will count with the presence of professionals from the body: Vicent Mifsud, president of the company committee of RTVV; Frederic Ferri, news reader of ‘Nou 24’; Josep Rodríguez, journalist of Ràdio 9; Amparo García, vice-president of the Unió de Periodistes; and Sebastián Sánchez, worker at RTVV and professor of Audiovisual Communication at the University of Valencia.
 
The debate will be moderated by Guillermo López, professor of Journalism at the University of Valencia.
 
The Valencian Government implemented last Friday the cessation of emissions of Ràdio 9 and Canal 9, ending unilaterally a public service that had been operating for 24 years. The next day, the Valencian society expressed its opposition to this measure in a mass demonstration of thousands of people that marched through the streets of Valencia.
