The Institut d'Història de la Medicina i de la Ciència López Piñero (institute of history of medicine and science), inaugurated on Monday the 12th, at 20:00, the showing ‘A través de l’espill. Lectures de l’obesitat: medicina, art i societat’ (Through the looking glass. Different readings of obesity: medicine, art and society). The institute is a combined group of CSIC and the Universitat de València, placed at Palau de Cerveró. The showing is organized by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture, Planning and Equality and the mentioned institute.
Esteban Morcillo, the Principal of the Universitat, attended the opening ceremony, as well as Antonio Ariño, Vice-Principal for Culture, and José Pío Beltrán, institutional coordinator of CSIC in the Valencian Community. The showing has the collaboration of the l'Institut Valencià de l'Audiovisual i la Cinematografia Ricardo Muñoz Suay (from the Valencian Government) and the Agència Estatal de Seguretat Alimentària i Nutrició (from the Spanish Ministry for Health, Social Policy and Equality) and is divided into three sections.
The showing A través de l’espill. Lectures de l’obesitat: medicina, art i societat deals with obesity from the historic and medical points of view, its social and cultural image and its artistic representation, as the Vice-Principal for Culture, Antonio Ariño, explained.
