Josep Lluís Sirera, former vice-principal of the Universitat de València and playwright dies

Josep Lluís Sirera, former vice-principal of the Universitat de València, died yesterday, Tuesday, in Valencia due to complications in a disease that he suffered for the last month. Sirera, 61 years old, was a retired full university professor of Spanish Literature, as well as a prestigious author and adaptor of theatre plays. The funeral will be today, Wednesday, at 15:45 in the funeral parlour of Valencia.

Josep Lluís Sirera had recently retired as a full university professor of the Department of Spanish of the Universitat de València. He had been vice-dean of the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication (1986-1987), dean of that same centre (1987-1989), director of the Department of Spanish (1992-1995), director of the Libraries and Documentation Service of the Universitat de València (2002-2006), and vice-principal of Culture from 2010 until March 2011.

Some of his theatre plays have been performed for the first time by the Theatre Club of the Universitat de València in the last years.
