VII Employment Forum, organized by OPAL (Professional Placement and Careers Advice Monitoring Centre), with the collaboration of the General Foundation of University of Valencia, held the last Tuesday the Conference on Eures of the Valencian Community. The Conference brought together Eures counselors from Germany, Denmark, and Sweden in a round-table discussion moderated by the Eures Counsellor of Castellón, María Isabel García Hernández. The Conference was focused on ‘How to stand for a selection process in Europe’. The meeting was celebrated at the Faculty of Economics (Burjassot Campus).

The round-table, conceived as an International meeting, included the participation of employment experts from the European Union. Some of the objectives were to analyze the future of labour market, reveal the key points of European selection processes and provide advice on how to successfully overcome, a task performed by representatives of the countries of the Permanent Cooperation Network (Puente de Cooperación Permanente) with Spain.

According to María Isabel García Hernández, Eures Counsellor of Castellón, some of those key points are language skills, a clear future project and knowledge of computer technology. ‘Errors have been detected in the handling of multimedia content’, and this fact, together with language skills, is one of the major concerns for European labour experts', explained.

Throughout the conference, Eures counselors have reflected about the most demanded jobs and professional profiles in each of the member countries of the network, both now and in the future. The objective was to develop a common strategy at improving the attention to users of different public employment services.

Eures (European Employment Services) is a cooperative network of employment services among member countries, partners and the European Commission. The purpose of Eures is to interchange job vacancies, provide information about the state and trends market and the working conditions in each of the countries.

Entrepreneurship: failure or success?
Panel discussions and debates have continued throughout the conference in the Forum. The topic Entrepreneurship: failure or success?, covered the last discussion, moderated by Silvia Gracia Andreu, technical of the project Uniemprén of the University of Valencia. Other participants have been Fabián Gómez, Director of F&G Consultancy (international consultancy), José Ignacio Ariño, Director of Cogestión Consulting; and Luis Quesada, President of the Geinnova Association. The debate was also celebrated at the Faculty of Economics.

The objective of that panel discussion was that students change the perception about entrepreneurship so they contemplate it as a professional career, as another success in their future. ‘University students think that entrepreneurship is a mistake, they don’t contemplate it as a professional career once they finish their degrees, while they consider self-employment and to go in for a public competition as good job opportunities’, explained the responsible for Uniemprém.

The afternoon session started with the talk Doors open to talent, chaired by Daniel García Sorribes, general partner of Uría Méndez. The presentations of the different participant organizations in the Forum have passed all day long.

And finally, an iPad2 WIFI (16 GB) will be raffled. The Professional Placement and Careers Advice Monitoring Centre (OPAL) has organized this contest to reward the attendance to the Forum.
