"

The musical training, an extra for caregivers

The project of Burriana, ivolved fifty people who wanted to refocus his career to the care of Alzheimer's patients. One of the criteria when selecting future professionals was that they had musical training to be able to stimulate patients reminiscence music and interact with them because, according to the research technique Irene Monsonís "many patients suffering Alzheimer store in their memory songs and melodies that have been present throughout their life and musical interaction promotes communication with them. "A third of the participants in the project have musical training, thanks to his association with bands and musical societies. The fact that there are numerous musical societies in the Valencian Country is for the teacher Garcés, "an extra training for the insertion of new professionals and caregivers of Alzheimer's patients, which will continue exploring and developing."
