‘Thinkfur Travel Trends: Conocimientos locales para mercados globales’ (‘Thinkfur Travel Trends: Local knowledge for global markets’) is the title of the Annual Conference Series of this touristic innovation platform, which in this edition will show companies and touristic and technological startups the options and challenges posed by international markets to value the experience, the knowledge and the technology “made in Spain”.

Representatives of the touristic and hotel industry, entrepreneurs and startups, sectorial agents, technicians and scientists of Polibienestar Research Centre at the University of Valencia participate the 12 December in the Series ‘Thinkfur Travel Trends: Conocimientos locales para mercados globales’, which is held in the Círculo de Bellas Artes of Madrid, within the frame of the Annual Assembly of the Technological Platform of Tourism-Thinkfur, dedicated this year to study the technology trends for the tourism industry and how Spanish companies can export their know-how in this area to other markets and destinations.

Thinkfur, industry-led platform, is the network of touristic and technological companies, and touristic innovation agents, a knowledge and information forum for the sector, that runs the Instituto Tecnológico Hotelero (Hotel Technological Institute) (ITH), and manage the Asociación de Empresas del Sector TIC, las Comunicaciones y los Contenidos Digitales (AMETIC), the Polibienestar Research Centre of the University of Valencia and the Sociedad Estatal de Gestión de la Innovación y las Tecnologías Turísticas (SEGITTUR).

The event has been inaugurated by María Luisa Castaño, general manager of Innovation and Competitiveness of the Secretary of State at I+D+i of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness; and by Fernando Panizo, president of the Thinktur Platform and member of ITH governing board; who have introduced Carlos Romero, from the Thinkfur Technical Secretary and director of the I+D+i area of SEGITTUR; and Álvaro Carrillo de Albornoz, director of the Thinkfur Platform and general manager of ITH, who have made a balance of the results achieved during the year and have advanced future actions to be undertaken within the platform.

Exporting the Spanish Success
In order to provide the necessary financial tools to internationalise the project and technological and touristic companies to markets of interest for the Spanish touristic industry, representatives from the ICEX and the Common Funding General Direction of the Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations will explain the international funding options of projects, through planes such as H2020 and other multilateral programmes.

Facing the challenge of internationalisation requires building cohesive and coordinated working teams to facilitate innovation in their organisations. José Alfredo López, founder and general manager of People Yachting & Development, will explain how to be a “good captain” for companies of our time, from techniques that combine corporate team building, navigation and talent management. After this, two debate tables will bring together several agents either from the touristic industry and other complementary sectors, to review avant-garde technologies for tourism and cultural heritage, and the potential of internalisation.

During the series, in the showroom of trends, several firms and technological and touristic startups will show prototypes and innovative solutions for the touristic sector, such as augmented reality, semantic technology, proximity marketing, touristic apps, among which TagCloud by Inmark stands out, a research and European technological development project whose objective is to create a platform in which citizens, institutions and other entities put in common European cultural heritage, sharing information through mobile devices, social networks, applications of augmented reality and narration, among other tools.

As a sample of the advantages and benefits that technologies provides to tourists, the organisation of the General Assembly of Thinktur will invite attendees, at the end of the event, to enjoy a virtual and interactive tour around the Círculo de Bellas Artes, with the help of applications available for mobile devices, based in gamification techniques and virtual reality.
